These are the rules for using Byb. Please read them; they include important information about safety, money and your responsibilities.
1About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Byb. Sports Ltd (“we”, “us”), the company that provides Byb. By creating an account or using Byb, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Byb.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal information. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected by these terms.
2Who can use Byb
You must be 16 or over.
Use one account, in your own name.
Keep the details you give us accurate.
3Your account
You sign in with a one-time link or code sent to your email. Keep your email account and your phone secure, because anyone with access to them could sign in as you. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
4Groups and Managers
A Manager creates a group, invites people, adds guest profiles, sets base ratings, publishes teams, records results and keeps track of subs and fines. Managers can make others Assistant Managers or hand over the role.
If you're a Manager, you agree to:
only add people, and their mobile numbers, when they've agreed to be added;
keep the information you enter accurate and fair, including ratings;
remove someone's profile or details if they ask;
use fines, ratings and roast awards in good spirit, never to bully anyone;
hand over the Manager role before you leave the group, if the group is carrying on.
We don't check or approve what Managers do. Disagreements within a group are for the group to sort out, but we may step in if these terms are broken.
5Games, safety and venues
Byb is a tool for organising games. We don't organise, supervise, referee or insure games, and we don't book or run venues. You take part at your own risk, and you're responsible for your own fitness, kit and following the venue's rules. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
6Subs, fines and payments
Subs, fines and the kitty in the app are records kept by your Manager. Everyone in your group can see the full lists, including who owes what. Only Managers can change them.
Paying online. If your group's Manager has connected a Stripe or PayPal account, you can pay your subs and fines in the app by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal. Your payment goes straight to the group's account. Byb never receives or holds the money.
Payments are processed by Stripe or PayPal under their own terms, and your card or PayPal details go directly to them. Your receipt comes from them or from us on the group's behalf.
Payment fees. Your group's Manager chooses who pays Stripe's or PayPal's fees. If your group passes them on, a payment fee is added at checkout and shown before you pay, so the group receives the full amount. Paying the Manager in person has no fee. Otherwise, you pay exactly the amount owed. Byb never charges a fee or takes a cut.
Refunds are up to your Manager. If you think a payment is wrong, contact your Manager first, then us if it isn't sorted out.
Paying by bank transfer. If your Manager has added their bank details, you can copy them into your own banking app and pay them directly, then tap "I've paid". The Manager confirms it when it arrives. The transfer is between you and your Manager: Byb only shows the details and doesn't handle the money, so check the name and details before you send it. Your bank's own rules and protections apply.
You can also pay your Manager in person, if they accept it. The Manager marks those payments paid by hand.
Fines are only ever issued by hand, by a Manager. The app never fines anyone automatically. A Manager can waive a fine, which cancels it.
Fines are an arrangement within your group, not a legal penalty, and we won't enforce them.
We aren't responsible for debts or disagreements about money between members.
If you're a Manager taking payments
To take online payments, you connect your own Stripe or PayPal account in Group settings. You must accept Stripe's or PayPal's terms, and they may ask you to verify your identity and bank account.
The money is paid into your account, and you're responsible for it: using it for the group as agreed, giving refunds when they're due, dealing with disputes and chargebacks, and any tax that applies.
Only take payments for your group's subs and fines.
If you choose to pass payment fees on to players, you must make sure that's allowed for your group. UK law stops businesses charging consumers extra for paying by card and most other electronic methods.
Stripe or PayPal may hold, refuse or reverse payments, or close your account, under their own terms. We can't overrule their decisions.
You can disconnect your account at any time. Payments already made aren't affected.
If you turn on bank transfer, only add a bank account you're allowed to use to collect your group's money, keep the details up to date, and confirm or decline transfers players report once you've checked your bank. Everyone in your group can see the details you add.
7Ratings, votes and awards
Ratings, teams and awards come from the opinions of your group and from results. They're for fun. We don't promise that teams will be balanced or that ratings are accurate.
Votes are anonymous. Don't try to find out how others voted, or team up with others to vote against someone. The Stinky Bib and Bottled It awards are meant as light-hearted banter, and your Manager can switch them off.
8What you must not do
When using Byb, you must not:
harass, bully, threaten or abuse anyone, including through nicknames, photos, group names, awards or messages to the Byb team;
post anything discriminatory, sexually explicit, hateful or illegal;
upload photos or content you don't have the right to use;
pretend to be someone else, or claim someone else's profile;
add people without their permission, or share other members' information outside Byb without their permission;
try to get into accounts or groups that aren't yours, or test or get around our security;
copy data from Byb in bulk, use bots, or overload or disrupt the service, including by flooding Help & support with requests;
copy, change or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
9Your content
You own the content you add, such as your name, nickname and photo, and the messages and screenshots you send us through Help & support. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and adapt it (for example, resizing your photo, putting your name on a teams poster, or sharing a screenshot within the Byb team to fix a problem) so we can run Byb. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account. Copies other people have already shared outside Byb, and copies in our backups for a short time, are the exception.
You confirm you have the right to add your content. We may remove content that breaks these terms.
10Our app
We own Byb, including its name, logo, design and software. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose while you follow these terms.
Apple App Store
If you downloaded Byb from the Apple App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app, its content, maintenance or support, or any claims about it, including product liability claims, claims that it doesn't meet legal requirements, consumer protection claims, or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund any price you paid for it (Byb is currently free); Apple has no other warranty obligation. You must also follow Apple's usage rules. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you. You confirm you're not in a country under a US government embargo, and not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Google Play
If you downloaded Byb from Google Play, Google Play's terms of service also apply.
11Help and support
You can ask the Byb team for help from Help & support in the app (the ? on Home). We aim to reply within 1 working day, Monday to Friday, but this is a target, not a promise. If we ask you a question and don't hear back for 7 days, we may close your request; you can reopen it from the app for 30 days.
We can help with Byb itself: signing in, how features work, problems with the app, payment receipts and your account. We can't settle disagreements between members of a group, such as who should be fined, who plays or how money is shared. Those are for your group and its Manager. Byb never holds your money, so refunds of subs or fines come from your Manager.
Don't put card numbers, passwords or other people's private information in a request or screenshot. If you do, we may delete it.
12Price
Byb is currently free, and we don't charge any fee on payments made through the app. Stripe and PayPal charge their own fees, which either the group or the player pays, depending on the group's setting. If we introduce paid features or our own fees, we'll tell you in advance, and you won't be charged for anything you haven't agreed to.
13Changes to Byb
We may update, change or remove features to improve Byb or for legal or security reasons. We'll try to give you notice of significant changes. We aim to keep Byb running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
14Ending your use of Byb
You can stop using Byb and delete your account at any time in the app, under Me → Edit my profile → Delete my profile. You can leave a group at any time, or ask its Manager to remove you.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms or the law. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and explain why.
15Our responsibility to you
We're responsible for loss you suffer that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable.
Byb is for personal use. We aren't responsible for any business losses.
We aren't responsible for arrangements between members of a group, such as payments, fines, or what happens at games.
We aren't responsible for Stripe's or PayPal's services, for example if they're unavailable, or if they hold, refuse or reverse a payment.
As far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to £0.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
16Disputes and the law
If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@bringyourbibs.com and we'll try to sort it out. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in the courts of your own country.
17Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Byb after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
